A trailer landing gear applies the principle of “standing wood can take a thousand kilograms”. It is located at the front end of the trailer frame and is usually used after the trailer has been separated from the tractor. The landing gear is generally composed of mechanical two speed single action and two speed linked action. Though it is not seen as often, but a motor can be attached to the existing landing gear that makes it electrical instead of mechanical. The main components of a landing gear consist of two speed-gearbox, supporting sleeve, supporting rod, transmission screw (rocker), and supporting plate. Its structure may seem simple, but its function is critically important for a semi trailer.
Landing gearbox has two speeds, which are suitable for when the trailer is empty and fully loaded. When the trailer is fully loaded, pull the rocker out for slower speed. Push the rocker towards the gearbox for faster speed, which is usually used to retract the supporting legs or the trailer is empty.
